Staffing Industry Analysts drew our attention to a new quarterly survey from TEKsystems’ called the IT Reality Check survey. In short, temp IT hiring is rising, but full-time also on upswing. Notable takeaways:
-
The recent survey took place in September and included more than 200 IT leaders, including CTOs, IT vice presidents, IT directors and IT managers.
- 42 percent of IT leaders reported an increase in temporary hiring so far this year (up from 36% last quarter).
-
37 percent of IT leaders reported increases in full-time hiring (up from 35% last quarter)
STA closes with a quote from TEKsystems Research Manager Jason Hayman: “On the bright side, IT leaders have a good grasp on the IT trends that most impact their organizations and they anticipate an increase in hiring. The third quarter closed with an uptick in hiring for both full-time and temporary workers, indicating firms are likely staffing up to make a last push at fulfilling important business initiatives."
According to the Washing Examiner, a Small Business Administration watchdog agency, the Office of Advocacy, wrote an opinion to the EPA on October1 encouraging them withdraw a new rule it is implementing under the Clean Water Act because it wrongly said the rule would not have an adverse economic impact. The letter said the proposed rule would place costs "directly on small businesses" that would have a "significant economic impact," despite EPA's claims to the contrary, raising annual permit costs by $20 million to $52 million and mitigation costs by $60 million to $114 million.
